IMAGE QUALITY VERIFICATION

Sensor Characterization (optional)

Image sensor characterization helps to detect camera module defects in early stage. Such
problem could originate from few easily testable factors such as IR cutoff filter not fulfilling
it’s purpose, RGB non-linearity, blemish due to dust trapped in the lens stack, VCM
ringing etc. All such problems would limit sensor module performance and thus affect
final product Image Quality.

Basic tuning and functionality check

During this phase system functionality verification is performed. Functionality test include RAW
capture capability, Tuning parameters are applied correct inside system, verification of sensor
module drivers and 3A statistics. Also, system vs PC simulator testing is performed to evaluate if
any difference limits system tuning with simulator.

Objective (Technical) Image Quality Verification:

Objective (Basic) tuning is done at fully equipped Lab in order to meet client’s criteria or
to pass specific certifications (Teams, Skype, Zoom and etc.) and to find the best fitting
solutions.

Perform all standard technical measurements supported by Imates, IE IQ Analyzer or customer software.

Subjective Image Quality Verification:

Comprehensive real-life testing covering a thorough variation of use cases and light conditions.
Tests are performed side by side with reference cameras and evaluated by our image quality
experts.
Our verification, comments and conclusions are presented in detailed reports at the end of each
phase.
